Loop quantisation of supergravity theories - motivation, fundamental ideas, and applications — •Norbert Bodendorfer — University of Warsaw, Poland

The research programme of quantising higher-dimensional supergravity theories using methods from loop quantum gravity will be outlined. The motivation for this line of research stems from the potential for cross-fertilisation between different approaches to quantum gravity, namely string theory and loop quantum gravity. The basic ideas and theoretical methods used will be presented and current developments highlighted. Long-term goals of the programme will be identified, with an emphasis on applications in neighbouring fields or research such as cosmology, nuclear, and particle physics.
