One way to reduce the background in radiocarbon AMS is to reduce the contend of hydrocarbons in the target material. Therefore we did physical tests like thermogravimetric analysis and molecular spektroscopy to determine the composition of graphite targets. Based on this results the reduction parameters were adjusted and cross checked.
