Measurement of the polarization fractions in the scattering WZWZ with the ATLAS detector at the LHC — •Carsten Bittrich, Ulrike Schnoor, Michael Kobel, and Anja Vest — IKTP, TU Dresden

The scattering of massive gauge bosons, measurable at the LHC in the final states with decay products of two massive gauge bosons and two additional jets, is an essential process for the studies of the mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB). Especially the scattering of longitudinally polarized bosons is sensitive to EWSB and extensions of the Standard Model, since it would violate unitarity without a Standard Model Higgs Boson canceling the divergencies. To extract these longitudinal polarization modes in the leptonic final states originating from a WZ boson pair, we study and validate different methods for a future measurement of polarization fractions in Vector Boson Scattering at the LHC.
