It is well known that for organic solar cells the donor/acceptor charge transfer state correlates with the open-circuit voltage Voc and determines inter alia the efficiency of the organic device. Here, we investigate the interfacial hybrid charge transfer state at the planar interface between two metal oxides (SnO and ZnO) and organic small molecules. Spectrally resolved electroluminescence was utilized to extract information on the emission properties of the hybrid charge transfer state. The hybrid energy gap at the interface was tuned by using different inorganic metal oxides in combination with organic molecules of different HOMO level. Gaussian decomposition of the measured ZnO/organic spectra shows the presence of two separate contributions, in which a stationary contribution of a peak at around 1.23 eV is present. The spectral position of this feature is independent of the organic, electric field and light exposure, therefore this feature is tentatively attributed to the ZnO. The energy of the second peak correlates, by trend, with the expected HOMO level and depends on the applied electric field and light exposure. This emission is hence attributed to hybrid charge transfer states.
