Raman spectroscopic investigation of the H2 + D2 –> 2HD and H2 + T2 –> 2HT equilibrium reactions — •Bennet Krasch, Robin Größle, Sebastian Mirz, and Florian Altenbrand — Karlsruher Institute of Technology

The KArlsruhe TRItitum Neutrino (KATRIN) Experiment aims to measure the mass of the anti-electron neutrino with a sensitivity of 200 meV/c2. Therefore KATRIN investigates the energy spectrum of the beta decay of tritium at its kinematic endpoint where the effect of a non-vanishing neutrino mass is most clearly. All systematic uncertainties (e.g. the gas composition in the source) has to be known very precisely to guarantee the sensitivity of 200 meV/c2. The gas composition in the source is spectroscopically measured by a self-developed laser Raman system which is based on the Raman effect. With this setup an inline and real-time analysis of the gas composition for the KATRIN source is possible In the commissioning phase of KATRIN lots of components will see tritium for the first time. Therefore in this contribution will be shown with the equilibrium reaction of hydrogen, deuterium and tritium which effects as laser radiation or excahnge reaction with walls, can influence the equilibrium reactions and what is the impact for KATRIN.
