Development of an integrated system for 3D energy deposition measurements in hadron therapy with GEMPix — •Johannes Leidner1,2, Fabrizio Murtas1,3, and Marco Silari11CERN, Geneva, Switzerland — 2RWTH Aachen University, Aachen, Germany — 3INFN-LNF, Frascati, Italy

GEMPix is a gaseous detector with three Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) layers read out by a 55 μm pitch pixelated ASIC with 512 x 512 pixels (four naked Timepix readout chips). This presentation focuses on the application of GEMPix in hadrontherapy, namely for 3D energy deposition measurements in a water phantom. Test measurements have been performed at the Italian National Center of Oncological Hadrontherapy (CNAO) with carbon ions. A stand-alone system consisting of a water phantom, a reference ion chamber and the GEMPix is being developed. This will allow measurements independent of the reference and triggering systems at hadron therapy centers.
