Preparation for high accuracy deuterium retention measurements in tungsten with µ NRA — •Robert Krug, Sören Möller, Arkadi Kreter, and Bernhard Unterberg — Forschungszentrum Jülich, Institut für Energie- und Klimaforschung, 52425 Jülich, Germany

The influence of the microstructure on the deuterium retention in tungsten is not fully investigated. In this contribution, we report on the progress of developing a new testing scheme for high resolution and accuracy µ NRA, which enables the correlation of the microstructure with retention.
The retention is greatly temperature and flux dependent. As such, these parameters have to be accurately measured. To achieve this, the accuracy and reproducibility of the plasma shape and measured surface temperature in the linear plasma device PSI-2 is investigated and optimized.
The sample preparation routine is refined as well and the effect of electropolishing before plasma exposure is examined. Additionally, investigations into the influence of the storage conditions between plasma exposure and µ NRA on retention are done.
