How to survive a tenure track and young kids — •Franziska Lautenschläger — INM-Leibniz Institute for New Materials, Saarbrücken, Germany — Saarland University, Saarbrücken, Germany

I was 3 months pregnant when I started my independent tenure track position in biophysics at the Saarland University – this crucial period where I knew I had to fully concentrate on my career. A mistake?

Today, I am in the process or my final tenure evaluation – and have even 2 little kids now. Neither my career path nor the one of any other scientists can be taken as the absolute guide – life is far too adventurous for that. However, during my talk, I will tell you about the different stages I passed, what was difficult, what not (yes, there are even things getting easier with kids!) and where I learned to get help. And I will be ready to answer your questions. Cu there!
