The series of intermetallic compounds Ce2T3Si5 (T- Transition metal X - Si, Ge) exhibit wide range of magnetic behaviour such as magnetic ordering, heavy fermion behaviour and Kondo effect. We present the magnetic susceptibility (χ), specific heat (CP), resistivity (ρ) thermopower (S) and magnetoresistivity (MR) properties of Ce2Ru3Ge5. The refined lattice parameter was observed to be *a = 9.9497 (4) Å, b = 12.416 (4), Å c = 5.8978 (2) Å. By means of χ (T), CP (T) ρ (T), S(T) and MR measurements we show that the system exhibits ferromagnetic-like long-range ordering below 7.9 K with localized Ce3+ ions and Sommerfeld coefficient γ = 85 mJ/mol.K. A strong influence of field dependent χ (T), ρ (T) and reduced saturation moment (0.32 µB) suggest that the crystalline electric field (CEF) plays a role in the ground state properties. The CEF splitting energies are estimated to be Δ1 = 567 K and Δ2 = 1491 K for the first and second excited states respectively. Absence of logarithmic variation of ρmag at low temperatures, negative MR at 2 K indicate that the Kondo energy scales are small (≈ 10 K) the system exhibit incoherent Kondo scattering.
