Floquet Engineering of Non-Equilibrium Quantum Matter — •Netanel Lindner — Technion, Haifa

Quantum many body systems driven by a coherent, time-periodic drive, provide a versatile platform for realizing a host of novel non-equilibrium phenomena and phases of matter. I will describe how the interplay between periodic driving, disorder, and interactions gives rise to steady states exhibiting robust topological phenomena with no analogues in static, equilibrium systems, as well as unique forms of spontaneous symmetry breaking. I will discuss how these phenomena can be induced in coherently driven semiconductors, quantum anomalous hall insulators and Moire superlattices. I will also show how the special properties of topological and symmetry breaking Floquet phases of matter are manifested in unique experimental signatures such as quantized, topologically protected large-bias currents and magnetization, and dynamical order parameters.
