The Mn-based intermetallic compound Mn3Al9Si crystallizes in a hexagonal structure in which the Mn ions form a well-separated triangular network, giving rise to unusual transport and thermodynamic behavior. We have synthesized high-quality single crystals of Mn3Al9Si and performed magnetic, transport and heat-capacity measurements. The magnetic susceptibility exhibits isotropic behavior with no evidence of long-range magnetic ordering down to 1.8 K. Low-temperature resistivity measurements reveal a negative magnetoresistance. We further present the critical scaling behavior in applied magnetic fields, in both magnetization and heat-capacity.
