A transition to (soft) quantum chaos has been shown to appear in the electronic ground state of the carbon disulfide molecule at higher energies. In order to test the hypothesis of vibronic or rovibronic chaotic behaviour in the energy range of the excited V-state, induced by couplings with the ground state and other electronic states, we built up an infrared-ultraviolet double resonance experiment. It consists of a CO laser and a frequency doubled dye laser which is pumped by a CuHBrID laser. Single rovibrational levels can be excited, which simplifies considerably the complicated sructure of the upper electronic system. Furthermore, it should be possible to observe rovibronic levels that are not accessible to one photon transitions. First results will be reported.
