Ab initio calculation of temperature dependent magnetic susceptibility of Palladium — •B. Zellermann, W. Weber, and J. Voitländer — Institut für Physikalische Chemie, Sophienstr.11, 80333 München

Pd shows some interesting features concerning the thermodynamic and magnetic properties [1],[2]. So it shows a maximum in the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility at about 85 K. Based upon a band structure calculation at zero temperature with a FLAPW method (wien 95) and using a modified Murata Doniach model for spinfluctuations we have investigated the influence of the spinfluctuations on the temperature dependent magnetic susceptibility. In addition to these collective excitations also Stoner excitations were taken into consideration, separately and in combination. Our calculations are in fairly good agreement with the experimental findings.
