Lyapunov spectrum and the conjugate pairing rule for a thermostated random Lorentz gas — •Arnulf Latz1, Henk van Beijeren2, and Jay Robert Dorfman31Johannes Gutenberg - Universität, Institut für Physik, D-55099 Mainz — 2Institute for Theoretical Physics, University of Utrecht, Postbus 80006, 3508 TA, Utrecht, The Netherlands — 3I.P.S.T. and Department of Physics, University of Maryland, College Park, MD, 20742, USA

We calculate all four non-zero Lyapunov exponents for a 3-dimensional, dilute, random Lorentz gas by combining dynamical systems and Boltzmann equation methods. In the presence of an external field and a Gaussian thermostat the Lyapunov exponents, calculated up to second order in the applied field, satisfy a conjugate pairing rule. Agreement of the results obtained here with those of computer simulations of Dellago and Posch is excellent.
