Injection of Deuterium (D2)-Pellets from the magnetic high-field side into a neutral beam heated tokamak plasma has shown to be a very efficient particle refuelling method [1]. In this completely new scenario transport of pellets accelerated by a centrifuge injector is performed in a guiding tube. A funnel is employed to get the pellets into the small cross section of such a guiding tube. There was no information available about transport of D2 pellets in a funnel. We have done experiments to explore interaction of D2 pellets with different target materials by flash videography and by a mechanical method. The results of this investigations are the mechanical damping in solid D2 during the impact at a pellet temperature of about 6K and the tendency to disintegrate at different impact velocities. Experimental details and results are presented.
