The GDH experiment: Determination of the neutron detection efficiency of the DAPHNE detector — •H. Holvoet1 and GDH/A221Department Subatomic and Radiation Physics, University Gent, B9000 Gent, Belgium — 2

For the approved GDH experiment on the neutron at MAMI/Mainz, a good knowledge of the neutron efficiency of the DAPHNE detector is required. From the test measurements on the proton and the deuteron, it is possible to identify specific reaction channels in which a neutron is produced (γ pn π +, γ dpn). >From these the efficiency is deduced as a function of neutron energy and angle. The results will be compared to predictions from a GEANT simulation.
