Electromagnetic excitation and fragmentation of neutron-rich nuclei 17−22O* — •A. Leistenschneider — Institut für Kernphysik, Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität, D-60486 Frankfurt/M.

Secondary beams of neutron-rich oxygen 17−22O (500-600 A·MeV) and neighboring isotopes were produced at GSI SIS-FRS-facility using an 40Ar beam. Break-up reactions on light and heavy targets were studied employing the LAND-CB detector devices, allowing for identification and momentum analysis of break-up fragments including neutrons and γ–rays. The main emphasis is on determining the fragmentation of the (dipole-) giant resonance strength distribution including low-lying components which are expected to occur at large neutron excess towards the neutron-dripline. First results will be presented.
