Pion Production from dpdNπ reactions with deuteron beams at CELSIUS — •J. Greiff1, I. Koch2, H. Rohdjeß3, W. Scobel1, and Wasa/Promice41I. The pd system is the simplest one to study the influence of a multinuclear environment on a hypothetical quasi–free NNNNπ process. The recently measured excitation functions σpdpdπ(Tp) could be described as a quasi–free pndπ interaction plus a spectator proton, whereas the observed energy spectra indicated substantial contributions from an additional reaction mechanism [1,2]. Close to the 2N threshold, however, a spectator proton is at rest and escapes direct observation.

Therefore this and the isospin related reaction dpdnπ+ have been measured with deuteron projectiles of energies between the 3N and the quasifree 2N threshold at the CELSIUS accelerator of the TSL, Uppsala. The WASA/PROMICE detector used allowed to cover a large fraction of the accessible phase space. First results will be presented.
