Double pion production in proton-proton collisions — •A. Khoukaz — Institut f"ur Kernphysik, Universit"at M"unster, Wilhelm-Klemm-Str. 9, D-48149 M"unster

The two pion production in the near threshold region is an important tool to study the fundamental nucleon-nucleon, pion-nucleon and pion-pion interaction. The theoretical understanding of the contributing processes is improving but less understood than in the case of the single pion production. On of the reasons for this situation is the lack of data for most reaction channels, especially close to threshold ( ∼ 0.6 GeV). Within the WASA/PROMICE collaboration data from π π production in proton-proton collisions have been measured at beam energies between 650 and 775 MeV using the CELSIUS accelerator at the TSL, Uppsala. The WASA/PROMICE detector setup allows both the detection of charged and neutral ejectiles and is therefore very well suited for this kind of measurements. First results of the analysis of the reaction channels pppp π+ π / π0 π0 , pppn π+ π0 and ppd π+ π0 will be presented.
