Background free neutrino spectroscopy with Karmen — •C. Ruf — Institut für Strahlen und Kernphysik der Universität Bonn

In the Karmen neutrino experiment performed at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory neutrinos with energies up to 52.8 MeV are detected in a 56 t scintillation calorimeter. The physical aims of the Karmen experiment are the search for neutrino oscillations in the appearance channels νµ → νe and νµνe as well as the detailed study of neutrino nucleus interactions on 12C, 13C and 56Fe.

In an upgrade programme to improve the sensitivity for ν–oscillations an additional veto counter system has been installed. This allows an almost complete suppression of any cosmogenic background. >From the new data an background free analysis of neutrino nucleus interactions are presented.
