Photon and meson scattering on the nucleon in an eff. Lagrangian model — •T. Feuster, G. Penner, and U. Mosel — Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität Giessen

We have developed a model for solving the scattering equation for the coupled channels γ N, π N, π π N, η N, K Λ. The driving potential is calculated using effective Lagrangians and unitarity is guaranteed by working in the K-matrix approach.
This ansatz allows the simultaneous extraction of the hadronic and electromagnetic couplings of the nucleon resonances via a fit to all available data for the various reaction channels. As a result we find that the hadronic data alone are not sufficient to accurately determine the parameters of some resonances, e.g. the S11 (1535). Only in combination with the photoproduction and Compton data the uncertainties in these parameters can be reduced.
