Anisotropic transverse flow observed in the CERES/NA45 Experiment — •S.A. Voloshin for the CERES Collaboration — Physikalisches Institut, Universit"at Heidelberg, Philosophenweg 12, D-69120 Heidelberg

Using data of the CERES Spectrometer, we analyze anisotropic transverse flow in Pb-Au collisions at 160 GeV/c per nucleon in the pseudorapidity region 1.8<η<3.6. Both directed and elliptic flow of charged particles are analyzed as function of pseudorapidity, and in the region 2.2<η<2.6 as a function of transverse momentum, for different centralities of the collision. We observe the strongest signal for mid-central events (impact parameter approximately equal to the nuclei radii) and find v1≈ 0.02–0.025 and v2≈ 0.04, where v1 and v2 are the amplitudes of the first and second harmonics in the Fourier expansion of the particle azimuthal distributions with respect to the reaction plane.
