To obtain absolute E1 collective transition rates in 150Sm, the lifetimes of the lowest 1, 3, 5 and 7 states have been measured at the high-flux ILL reactor with the GRID method. Lifetime values between 126fs (1) and 725fs (7) have been found. Higher up to spin J=18, B(E1) values have been estimated from experimental B(E1)/B(E2) ratios. The E1 transition moments reveal a characteristic spin behaviour. They peak at J=5-7 and are lowest in the region 11≤ J ≤15 where previous studies suggest enhanced octupole collectivity. In addition, a staggering of the E1 moments with odd and even J values occurs suggesting quadrupole-octupole coupling. A speculative scenario is required in order to reconcile present and previous results and conclusions on the spin region of octupole enhancement.
