Gamma-Ray Line Astronomical Observations and Nucleosynthesis — •Roland Diehl — Max Planck Institut für extraterrestrische Physik, 85740 Garching

Observations of cosmic radioactivity gamma-ray lines have become feasible in the past decade. This enables a more direct inspection of nucleosynthesis in the nearby universe, compared to other abundance determination methods. We will discuss in particular the Compton Observatory results on radioactivity from 26Al in the Galaxy, and from supernovae and novae. Details about the astrophysical inferences from the 26Al all-sky imaging data will be discussed for specific regions in the Galaxy.
