A recent measurement of the linear polarization of Parametric X-radiation (PXR) at observation angles around 20.5 is in good agreement with expectations within the kinematical PXR theory. Contrary to previous belief the radial linear polarization of the incident virtual photon field is drastically altered at forward diffraction angles. For a complete understanding of the polarization properties of PXR the measurements will be extended to larger observation angles up into the backward hemisphere where an approximately radial orientation of polarization planes is expected. A Compton polarimeter employing thermoelectrically cooled silicon photodiodes is presently being developed. Design considerations and calibration results will be presented.
