Construction and control system of a EUROBALL RDTF plunger — •M. Hausmann, A. Jungclaus, K.P. Lieb, and C. Teich — II. Physikalisches Institut, Universit"at Göttingen, Bunsenstr. 7-9, 37073 Göttingen

The Recoil-Distance-Transient-Field (RDTF) method, proposed by Lubkiewicz et al. [1] some years ago, is an elegant way to measure g-factors of short-lived high-spin states populated in heavy-ion compound-nucleus reactions. Since for a successful application of this method highly efficient γ-ray detection is mandatory, we developed and constructed an RDTF-plunger suited for use in conjunction with the EUROBALL spectrometer [2]. The distance between the target and the bilayer Gd/Au stopper foil can be varied via remote control. The capacity between both foils and the temperature of the stopper foil which is cooled to liquid nitrogen temperature are monitored via a PC. In addition, the software includes routines for semi-automatic distance calibrations and distance stabilization [3]. On this poster, we will present the design of the chamber and the main features of the control software.
