At the KVI a new Focal Plane proton Polarimeter (FPP) for the Big Bite Spectrometer (BBS) at AGOR is currently under commission. Four large-area MWPCs and two VDCs with 4000 active wires have to be read out in single-wire mode. Therefore, a differential 16-channel front-end board has been developed by adapting the ASD-8, an integrated preamplifier-shaper-discriminator circuit for straw tube readout [1]. For stable operation, auxiliary circuits like power supplies, threshold controllers and signal level converters have been newly developed and the board circuitry was optimized for reliable stability and easy installation. First experimental tests at the KVI with a 180 MeV proton beam have yielded good performance. A double pulse resolution of 30 ns was achieved. Due to its low operational threshold of about 2 fC, the MWPC HV could be reduced to a value 250 V below the nominal setting, without any loss of efficiency. Experimental results, constructional details and prospects for future applications are presented.
