A new beam transport line for the investigation of coherent x-ray sources was constructed at the Mainz Microtron MAMI. It was designed in such a way that an achromatic beam can be delivered at four experimental places. In order to meet the beam optical requirements of the radiators (undulators, foil stacks and crystals ) the transverse beam parameters can be chosen with maximum flexibility. The beam optical concept includes also the possibility to modulate the beam direction at the transition radiation foil stack in order to obtain a well defined energy variation at a fixed position behind a movable monochromator crystal. An achromatic bending system with large aperture and maximum energy and angle acceptance allows the transport of a diffused beam to a high power dump with a minimum of losses. First experiments show that the necessary beam waists can be realized. The optical properties of the system are measured and optimized at present. In order to remove small beam position fluctuations an active control system using high resolution rf position monitors is planned.
