We want to measure the cross section of the reaction ppda0+dK+K0 and the mass spectra of the K+K0 system at energies Tp 2.52… 2.60 GeV at the cooler synchrotron COSY-Jülich using the spectrometer ANKE and a high-density frozen-pellet target. In this way we wish to find out whether the a0+ is a real resonance or a K+K0 threshold-cusp effect. The results of model calculations on a0+ production as well as the planned experimental setup will be discussed. According to our simulation calculations, we expect a few thousand events of a0+ decays into K+K0 per week with very little background from other reaction channels. Due to a momentum resolution of Δ p/p ≈ 1.5% for the deuterons detected in coincidence with the K+ mesons we expect a missing-mass resolution of Δ m/m (a0+)≈ 0.7% which should be good enough to draw conclusions about the structure of this meson.
