Density dependent relativistic mean field calculations for nuclear matter and finite nuclei with large charge asymmetry — •S. Typel and H. H. Wolter — Sektion Physik, Universität München, Am Coulombwall 1, D-85748 Garching

Nuclear matter and ground state properties for (proton and neutron) semi-closed shell nuclei are described in relativistic mean field theory with coupling constants which depend on the vector density. Such a parametrization is suggested by the density dependence of self energies in Dirac-Brueckner calculations. In order to obtain a more detailed description of a wide range of nuclei we fit the parametrization of the density dependence for σ-, ω- and ρ-mesons to properties of nuclear matter and some finite nuclei. In this approach a δ-meson is found not to be necessary. The equation of state for symmetric and asymmetric nuclear matter is discussed. Finite nuclei are described in Hartree approximation, including rearrangement terms in the field equations, and also a charge and an accurate center-of-mass correction. Pairing is considered in the BCS approximation. We obtain a good overall description of the systematic variation of nuclear properties near the neutron and proton driplines, e.g. separation energies, spin-orbit splittings and density distributions, using this description of the nuclear structure. We will also discuss nucleon scattering and Coulomb break-up.
