The GNO (Gallium Neutrino Observatory) experiment, located in the Gran Sasso underground laboratory, is carried out as a continuation of the GALLEX experiment. It is aimed at the observation of the integral solar neutrino flux on a long timescale. This requires a reduction of the systematic and statistical error beyond the level reached in GALLEX. Cryogenic detector concepts which we are developing provide a promising possibility to measure the back-decay of 71Ge to 71Ga.
