Spectral and time-frequency analysis of the bound state and continuum contributions to harmonic generation — •C. Figueira de Morisson Faria, M. Dörr, and W. Sandner — Max-Born-Institut, Rudower Chaussee 6, 12474 Berlin

We investigate the harmonic generation process in model atoms with several bound states. Results from the numerical time-dependent solution of the Schrödinger equation for a 1-D model are compared with a two-step approach [1]. Using a time-frequency analysis, the semiclassical return times are recovered for the high-plateau and cutoff spectral regions [2]. Performing time-dependent projections onto the field-free bound-state basis, and using Fourier and Wavelet analysis, we also investigate whether harmonic generation is mainly a result of bound-free transitions. The bound-bound contributions are compared with the results from a two-level atom [3], and the influence of ionization in this latter model is investigated [4].
