Based on IR detection of thermal waves, the thermophysical properties of carbon-based fibre-reinforced composites have been measured as functions of temperature. By registering both the thermal wave response at the modulation frequency of heating and the second harmonic response, the temperature dependence of the effusivity, thermal conductivity and heat capacity have been determined. Based on additional frequency-dependent measurements of the thermal depth profiles (1st and 2nd harmonic response) at different temperatures, a temperature-dependent effective IR absorption constant has been determined, which is characteristic for the internal radiative heat transport in the detected IR wave length interval (1 < λ / µ m < 12).
