Photoinduced Two-Nucleon Knockout Reactions — •M. Heim, D. Knödler, and H. Müther — Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität Tübingen, Auf der Morgenstelle 14, 72076 Tübingen

It is well known that nuclear correlations beyond the mean field approach have to be considered to obtain a realistic description of the structure of nuclei. Two-nucleon knockout experiments are performed to investigate these short-range and tensor correlations.

We present a consistent description of the two-nucleon knockout reaction in both nuclear matter and finite nuclei. The ground state correlations and final state interactions of the two outgoing nucleons are treated within the framework of the G-matrix approach in the nuclear matter case whereas for finite nuclei the exp(S)-method is used.

The meson exchange current contributions include the π- as well as the ρ-meson and processes with intermediate Δ-excitations (isobaric currents). We will point out that the actual form of the Δ-propagator influences the magnitude of the cross section significantly. Numerical results are shown for kinematical settings appropriate for experiments at MAMI in Mainz (16O(e,epn)) and at MIT-Bates (12C(e,ed)).
