Silicon strip detectors for beam adjustment at GEM(COSY) — •I. Ilieva — Institut fuer Kernphysik, Forschungszentrum Juelich, 52428 Juelich

During GEM experiments at COSY, when using Ge-detecor setup, beam with low intensity is needed. For observing the beam position during the focussing, a system containing two position sensitive (X and Y) silicon detectors, whith 4.5 mm effective thickness each, were fabricated and brought up into operation. The sensitive side has square strip structure, allowing position resolution of less then 1 mm. The strips are connected each to other via low resistive chain (150 Ω each resistor), so that a read-out of the signals at the first and the last strip only is sufficient to obtain the position (X or Y) of the incoming particle. The response of the detectors and the following electronics to (700÷800) MeV/c beam protons, as well the previuos tests done with 207Bi source are presented.
