For essentially all the meson production reactions measured in the past few years (e.g.π, K) the energy dependence of the production cross section near threshold can be understood in terms of the strong Baryon-Baryon final state interaction only [1]. Recent data for the reaction pp→ ppη^′ taken at COSY-11 [2] show, however, a drastic deviation from this feature. Various theoretical implications of this deviation are discussed. Special emphasis is put on the possible existence of a resonance in the η^′p-system.
