Resonant Tunneling of Wannier-Stark-States — •M. Glück, A. R. Kolovsky, and H. J. Korsch — FB Physik, Universität Kaiserslautern, 67653 Kaiserslautern

We develop a momentum space scattering approach for the calculation of resonances in Stark systems, i.e. in systems which are additionally exposed to an external dc field. The approach, which is based on Floquet theory, is remarkably simple, uses no approximations and can easily be extended to time-dependent potentials or higher dimensional systems. We use it to calculate the quantum states of particle in a periodic potential plus additional external dc field. They are a sequence of resonances with equidistant spacing, the so-called Wannier-Stark-Ladder of resonances. The widths of the resonances as a function of the field strength of the external field show a complicated structure, which can be explained by resonant tunneling of Wannier-Stark-States.
