We have studied the photodynamics of single quantum state-selected N2O and CH3Br molecules. The photodissociation of these molecules is of interest for atmospheric processes. Ion-imaging is used to measure the angle-resolved recoil distribution of fragments [1]. Vector correlation properties reveal detailed insight into the dynamics and the (multiple) potential surfaces involved [2]. Comparison of the experimental data is made with calculated abinitio surfaces and dynamics on these surfaces. The implications of the results in light of open questions on the isotopic fractionation of N2O in the stratosphere are addressed.
