The ultraviolet behaviour of integrable quantum field theory, affine Toda field theory — •Andreas Fring — Institut für Theoretische Physik, Freie Universität Berlin, Arnimallee 14, 14195 Berlin

We discuss two approaches which lead to the computation of correlation functions, the so-called boostrap program and a perturbative approach which exploits the operator product expansions of the conformal field theory. We illustrate how the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz may be utilized to supply crucial informations for both approaches, in particular the vacuum expectation values. We investigate the solutions of the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz equations for the situation in which the statistical interaction of a multi-particle system is governed by Haldane statistics. We discuss how ambiguities in the formulation of the characters for irreducible representations of the Virasoro algebra are reflected in in massive theories. In particular we study affine Toda field theories and investigate the role of generalized statistics and duality.
