We investigate theoretically various dynamical phenomena occuring when a Bose-Einstein condensate is transfered from a magnetic trap to an optically confined region of space.
In particular we study the time dependent Gross-Pitaevski equation describing the process of loading of the condensate from a harmonic magnetic trap to a cylindically shaped optical trap. We search for conditions for observing condensate self-interference, collapses and revivals, thermalization and randomization of the motion.
We investigate also reflections of the condensate from an optical mirror, leading to splitting of the condensate wave packet.
