One of the first full scale prototypes of the Monitored Drift Tube(MDT) chambers for the ATLAS Muon Spectrometer was built last year at the Max Planck Institute in Munich in collaboration with the LMU Munich and Freiburg University. This chamber was placed in a muon testbeam at CERN. Extensive tests were performed in order to verify if its performance fullfills the high requirements needed in the demanding ATLAS environment. The results show a good accuracy of the autocalibration procedure. The obtained single wire resolution for a typical tube is ∼ 80µm.
