The ATLAS level–1 calorimeter FAST SIMULATION tool, based on an average detector geometry and parametrized calorimeter response, simulates the complete chain of the level–1 calorimeter trigger system. The simulation tool together with some results obtained for a representative physics process (W → e + ν ) is presented.
