The energy spectrum of a polaron bound to a donor in a wire-like cylindrical quantum-well heterostructure in the presence of a magnetic field is studied under conditions of a strong size quantization. When deriving the polaron energy spectrum, (i) a realistic electrostatic potential of the charge-charge interaction is used instead of the spherically symmetric potential, and (ii) the interaction of an electron with both bulk-like and interface polar optical phonons specific for the structure is taken into consideration. Applying a magnetic field is shown to split the energy levels of the excited states, which are two-fold degenerate in the absence of a magnetic field. The energies of the states with a positive magnetic moment monotonously increase as the magnetic field rises. At the same time, the energies of the states with a negative magnetic moment show a non-monotonous dependence on the magnetic field: with the magnetic field strengthening, those energy levels pass through a minimum. The resonant case is studied in detail when a difference between the energy levels of the excited and ground states is close to the optical phonon energy. The energy spectrum of a bound polaron is analyzed for the wire-like cylindrical heterostructures GaAs/AlAs and CdSe/glass. This work has been supported by the COPERNICUS Project No. PL97-8078.
