The 12C(α,γ)16O reaction is one of the key reactions of astrophysics and has been investigated in the past several times. Nevertheless the extremely small cross section and S-factor suffers from large uncertainties and with it all extrapolations in the range of helium burning. It is determined by several interfering states, two of them below threshold. To obtain both transition amplitudes, the E1 and E2, which are required for the R-matrix analysis of the reaction, one of the best suited methods is the measurement of γ-angular distributions in a wide energy range of the excitation function. For this purpose a completely new setup with a 4π geometry was designed using 9 respectively 15 Eurogam detectors with active shielding. The intense α-beam (projected to more than 0.5 mA) will be provided by the high current Stuttgart Dynamitron. The design of the experiment with all its aspects, the test of the facility and first results on the reaction itself will be presented.
