Pluto++: A Monte Carlo Simulation/Analysis Tool for Hadron Physics — •M.A. Kagarlis1, V. Hejny2, and J. Ritman31GSI, Darmstadt, Germany — 2FZJ, Jülich, Germany — 3II. Phys. Inst.,Giessen, Germany

A versatile framework for Monte Carlo simulations and analysis in C++ is presented, operating interactively from the ROOT analysis environment. Motivated by the physics program of HADES, the package incorporates models for resonance production, as well as hadronic and electromagnetic resonance decay modes. Empirical angular-distribution parametrizations are included for selected processes, such as resonance excitation and elastic scattering induced by nucleon-nucleon collisions. Tools are supplied for stand-alone principle simulations with simple detector configurations, or in conjunction with GEANT for rigorous detector-response studies. As an analysis tool, the code enables on-line multi-channel simulations of hadronic decays that may be adjusted to fit experimental spectra. The package is currently being expanded to implement additional hadronic-decay channels and heavy-ion interactions.
