By using the recoil shadow technique for fission isomers we were able to measure conversion electrons from transitions preceding the fission decay of the shape isomer of 240Pu. The 2nd minimum of 240Pu was populated by the 238U(α,2n)240Pu reaction and the electrons were detected by 3 Si-detectors with Mini-Oranges in front of them. From the measurement of conversion electrons in coincidence with 1.4 · 105 delayed fission decays, a collective β-band at 770 keV (E0-transitions) and an electron conversion coefficient of αK = 6.3 · 10−3 for the dominating 786 keV γ-transition, measured by D.Pansegrau et al.[1], could be established. The measured conversion coefficients allowed for suggestions on the multipolarity of the γ-transitions. In combination with our previous measurements [2] we gained new insight on the collective and single particle excitations in the second minimum in the actinide region.
