Lattice Methods in QCD — •Hartmut Wittig — CERN & Oxford University

The basic concepts of the formulation of Quantum Chromodynamics on a space-time lattice are introduced. This method allows for a determination of hadron masses and hadronic matrix elements from first principles, without resorting to perturbation theory. The procedures how to calculate such quantities in Monte Carlo simulations are discussed and a few applications of the method are presented.
