Particle rate in quark and gluon jets — •Madjid Boutemeur — Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Sektion Physik, Am Coulombwall 1, D-85748 Garching

We use a topological scale to compare π⁰ , η , and K_s⁰ production rate in quark and gluon jets to the corresponding rate of inclusive charged particles. The QCD prediction, which states that the ratio of particle mutliplicities between quark and gluon jets should be independant of the considered particle species, was tested and found to be correct within the statistical errors for the studied mesons.
