Spin scattering dynamics in ferromagnets — •Jamal Berakdar — Max-Planck Institut für Mikrostrukturphysik, D-06112 Halle

This work deals with the mechanisms of the spin-dependent multi-particle excitations in ferromagnets following the impact of a polarized electron beam. An analysis in terms of irreducible tensors is employed to disentangle exchange-induced quantities from effects caused by the spin-orbit coupling. The formal results are illustrated by numerical studies for Fe(110) surface. This symmetry analysis suggests a novel technique for the investigation of magnetic properties and spin-dependent electronic scattering in ferromagnets.
