CdIn2S4 and FeIn2S4 are ternary semiconductors, which crystallize in the spinel structure. Such substances are promising materials for laser and optoelectronic applications. We used the nuclear spectroscopic methods perturbed angular correlation (PAC) and Moessbauer effect (ME) to investigate order-disorder transitions in the cation sublattice of these compounds on a microscopic scale. Thereby the probes 111In(111Cd) and 111Ag(111Cd) were used for PAC, as well as 57Fe for ME. The results are compared with those of Raman spectroscopy, which is sensitive to long-range symmetry changes. The influence of different thermal treatments will be discussed. Besides, the theoretically determined electric field gradients of these substances will be compared with the experimental ones.

I. Burlakov is a A.v. Humboldt fellow from Institute of Applied Physics, Kishinev, Moldova
